Richardson Replants – Thank you Mayor Dubey & City Manager Don Magner
The Richardson Replants initiative provided another 100 free trees at Huffhines Harvest Fest, bringing the total number of trees given away thus far to 400! The city will also plant 100 new trees in our parks before May 28, 2025. Overall the program will replant up to 1000 new trees.
FY 24-25 Budget Adopted by City Council (Full report: CLICK HERE)
- $406,078,754 adopted budget is a 1.8% increase over FY23-24.
- Senior Tax Exemption has been increased to $145,000
- Key focus Areas: Staff recruitment/retention, Public Safety, Infrastructure & Economic Development
- 3% water & wastewater rate increase, $2 per month residential solid waste increase, $1 per month residential drainage fee increase
Richardson Enters Partnership to Attract International Businesses
The City has joined forces with international business accelerator Startup Runway. The collaboration seeks to attract international companies seeking to expand operations in North America. (Full article HERE)
City & Chamber Partner with RISD’s Professional Internship Program (PIP)
For more than 30 years, PIP has allowed high school seniors to explore a career field of their choice to gain valuable hands-on experience. The City’s summer internship program has been combined with PIP to increase participation and cut costs. (more info HERE)
Culture in the Core & Light Up Lockwood Combine
November 2nd will be the first combined celebration from 2:30 to 6:30pm at Main Street Plaza, 105 S. Interurban Street. Light up Lockwood will be from 7-9pm at 500 Lockwood Dr. (Find more info HERE)
Apollo Park is Now Open!
Apollo Park at the SW corner of Apollo Rd. and Plano Rd. is now open. The 26 acre space features multi-use sports fields and a lighted parking lot. (More info HERE)
Fire Department Earns Lifeline Gold Award
The American Heart Association announced RFD’s award for the 9th year to acknowledge the crucial role EMS teams play in caring for patients experiencing life-threatening cardiac events and save lives by providing pre-hospital care. (More info HERE)
