State of the City Address
Mayor Bob Dubey and the Richardson City Council presented the City’s annual State of the City Address focused on four specific areas: the City’s response to the May 28 storm, the cybersecurity incident that affected the city in September, the ongoing momentum created by the City’s economic development efforts, and Richardson’s continued investment in infrastructure and services. TAX EXEMPTION INCREASE
Richardson City Council approved an increase in the property tax exemption for residents who are age 65 and over or disabled. The exemption will be raised from $145k to $160k. This aligns with the City’s goal to maintain a tax benefit of 30% of the average senior’s home value.
MICRON TECHNOLOGY MOVES TO RICHARDSON
Micron Technology, a global memory & storage semiconductor innovator is opening an R&D facility in the Richardson Innovation Quarter (The IQ). This brings ~250 high-paying jobs to the City. Micron plans to invest ~$30M to start.
DETOURS & LANE CLOSURES FOR THREE MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS
Three highly traveled and/or centrally located road projects (Main Street Downtown, Glenville in the IQ, & Custer North of Renner) begin this month with significant disruptions to area traffic patterns.
