February 2025 – Richardson Replants

Thanks to City Council & Staff for Richardson Replants!
To counter the loss of trees and canopy due to weather events, Richardson has continued the Richardson Replants program, budgeting $200,000 for 2025. This is a partnership with One Earth One Chance, who is funding half of the trees, and the Richardson Rotary Club.

The City of Richardson provided 500 trees in the fall of 2024. Three hundred more consisting of three different species (Desert Willow, Chinkapin Oak & Peach) will be available on March 29, 2025 as part of Richardson’s trash bash. Later in the year, another 200 trees are planned. An additional 100 trees are being planted in Richardson Parks as part of the program.
Trees not only beautify the city but also help counter the heat island effect created by the concrete and asphalt in a city environment. Trees also absorb carbon dioxide.
Kudos, and thank you, Richardson City Council and Richardson Rotary Club for supporting such a worthwhile program.
