2025 City Council Election
- Applications to run for elected positions have been submitted, with final candidate lists confirmed after February 21.

Charter Review Commission Established
- The City Charter, originally drafted in 1956, serves as the legal framework for Richardson’s municipal government.
- Every 10 years, the charter undergoes a review to ensure it remains relevant and effective.
- The Charter Review Commission will propose updates by May 30, 2025.
- A Charter Amendment election is scheduled for November 2025.
Richardson Chamber of Commerce Welcomes New CEO
- The Richardson Chamber of Commerce has announced Julie Snyder as the new President and CEO, effective February.
- She succeeds Kim Quirk, who has led the Chamber with dedication and impact.

City & Chamber Partner with RISD’s Professional Internship Program (PIP)
- For over 30 years, PIP has provided high school seniors with hands-on career experience in their chosen fields.
- To increase participation and reduce costs, the City’s summer internship program has merged with PIP—expanding opportunities for local students.
Culture in the Core & Light Up Lockwood Combine
- This year, Culture in the Core and Light Up Lockwood will merge into one exciting community event!

Apollo Park is Now Open!
- Apollo Park, located at the SW corner of Apollo Rd. and Plano Rd., is now officially open!
- The 26-acre park features multi-use fields and a lighted parking lot for community convenience.
Fire Department Earns Lifetime Gold Award
- The Richardson Fire Department (RFD) has been honored with the American Heart Association’s Lifetime Gold Award for the 9th consecutive year.
- This award recognizes the life-saving role EMS teams play in providing pre-hospital care for cardiac emergencies.
