The Richardson Coalition is proud to recognize the City of Richardson for its continued leadership and excellence in open government.
Richardson has been awarded the prestigious Transparency Trailblazers honor—a distinction given to local governments across Texas that consistently earn top marks in the Texas Comptroller’s Transparency Stars program.
Since the program’s inception in 2017, Richardson has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to transparency by earning five stars every single year—a remarkable achievement that places the city among the most transparent and accountable in the state.
The Transparency Stars program acknowledges public entities that go above and beyond in providing easy access to meaningful financial information. Areas of recognition include:
- Traditional Finances
- Contracts and Procurement
- Economic Development
- Public Pensions
- Debt Obligations
- Open Government and Compliance (added in 2024)
By publishing detailed reports, clear summaries, interactive visualizations, and downloadable data, Richardson continues to set a gold standard in fiscal openness and community trust.
With this award, Richardson joins an elite group of fewer than 20 local entities statewide recognized for their sustained excellence in transparency over the past decade.
